Despite all his activity and energy, my son is very affectionate. I get tons of kisses and snuggles each day. And, believe me, I eat it all up! Lately, he loves to give me surprises.
Earlier this morning, he came downstairs with excitement in his eyes and said, "Mommy, I have a special SURPRISE for you!".
With my curiosity piqued, I asked said, "What is it, buddy?".
I thought maybe it was a picture he had colored. Or a flower of some sort. Or one of his plastic I Love Jesus necklaces. All very sweet tokens of his love.
He slowly pulled an object from behind his back. A small, ugly, plastic creature that makes a pooting noise when you pull it's arm down. I recognized it immediately. I thought we had rid ourselves of that nasty thing, as it had (thankfully) been AWOL for at least a month. Our friend Tim "left" it at our house last year - it was a McDonald's Happy Meal toy. Why on earth they put a toy like that in the Happy Meal is beyond me.
"See, Mommy. I found it." [several pulls of the arm accompanied by various crude potty sounds] "EEWWWW! He pooted! Here you go, mommy. It's for you." He held Mr. Stinky out with a mischievous little smile.
"Mmm... thanks, Jack."
Being the mom of a boy, you never know what will come next.
