Memory? What memory?

My husband gets joked by lots of people (including himself) about his terrible memory. He's pretty good with the important stuff or movie quotes (of all things), but normal day-to-day things are as good as forgotten as soon as they happen.

The other day I had a ridiculous bout with memory loss myself. I had JUST poured a cup of juice for my son and then couldn't find what I did with the container. I looked all over the fridge, pantry, counters - it was no where to be found. After many minutes of searching, I finally found it under the sink next to the cleaning supplies. I blame the pregnancy for that one.

Mike got a chuckle about that. But, what he did today tops them all....

A few moments ago he handed me a beautiful card and a CD. I was touched... a sweet card for no reason at all! Then I opened the card and read "Happy Anniversary". What??! Our anniversary is in April. It wasn't the anniversary of our engagement or first date or anything like that. To top it off the card was not signed. I was very confused.

He explained.... Today he preached at our former church. It is a bit more traditional than The Bridge, and he pulled out a coat and tie for the occasion. In between his 2 sermons, he reached inside his coat pocket and discovered the card and CD. He had worn the sports coat when we had gone out to eat on our last anniversary (last APRIL) and was going to sign the card before giving it to me at dinner. But, he forgot. And, never remembered, until today when he found them.

So, no, he did NOT forget our anniversary. He just forgot the gift!

After we had a good laugh about this, I told him that he already had this year's card bought and ready for April.

And, I promptly told him that I was "SO going to blog about this". :)

THAT is funny!!! I always talk about how forgetful I am now that I'm a mom. It has really taken a lot of my brain cells. You have a good excuse for your memory loss. Maybe I should get pregnant again too!
